Design+Build Estimator / Specifier

As a Design+Build Estimator / Specifier you will:

  • Meet with the Designer to understand the scope of work in advance, and work to produce preliminary and final estimates for a project.
  • Help coordinate the flow of design projects through the estimating/specifying phase
  • Schedule on-site visits with Designers, Production Team and Trade Specialists, and transfer project information.
  • Verify the accuracy of data such as existing measurements and site conditions, and consult with trade professionals regarding design feasibility.
  • Create material and labor estimate takeoffs.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and letters, final contract specifications and construction contracts.
  • Work with the team to create a calendar for the project, including start and end dates.
  • Offer value-engineered design alternatives, paying special attention to client’s requests, as guided by cost considerations, code constraints, and design “buildability”.
  • “Redline” drawings as necessary when more information is required.
  • Assist Designers in the selection of custom materials, finish materials, fixtures, and appliances if requested
  • Arrange for the proper transfer of production packages to the Production Team
  • Maintain a standard materials price list.
  • Review job costs and update pricing information accordingly.

Your success factors:

  • 4+ years of experience in residential design/construction.
  • Computer proficiency and demonstrated skill in using software such as Word, Excel, Sage100, BuilderTrend (estimating software is a plus!)
  • Good interpersonal skills and concern for internal and external clients.
  • Current product and cost expertise for doors, windows, skylights, cabinetry (made to order and custom), lighting, plumbing fixtures, finishes (such as tile, stone, solid surfacing, and laminates), millwork, appliances, and flooring.
  • Understand the basics of all areas of residential construction, including, but not limited to demolition, concrete, framing, structural requirements, roofing, exterior finishes (stucco, siding, etc.) electrical, plumbing, insulation, drywall, flooring, painting, windows, hardware, etc.

Designer / Sales Position

As a member of our Design / Sales team you will:

Meet and qualify prospective clients, offer and sell design contracts, work efficiently on design of projects from concept stage through to construction documents and drawings for permit (working with our CAD specialists and engineer), meet regularly with clients to review design decisions, sell the construction contract for the project and follow the construction of the project through to completion while attending key meetings on site for electrical walk-throughs, tile layout, etc. Projects range from bathrooms and kitchens (and other interior spaces) to whole house remodels with additions. Prospect for prospective clients through a variety of marketing events. This is a full-time position.

Your success factors:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven sales with a variety of job sizes and clientele.
  • Certified Interior Designer (CID), Certified Kitchen or Bath Designer through the NKBA (CKD, CBD) or ASID affiliation a plus.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with the Design+Build process under one roof.
-Creative designer with strong space-planning skills and ability to select plumbing fixtures, colors, tile, flooring and other finishes. Be able to specify cabinetry, create an electrical plan and select light fixtures.
  • Knowledge of Green Building and Universal Design a plus.
  • Bachelors or Design Certificate degree preferred.
  • Computer knowledge with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, 20/20 and Chief -Architect or equivalent cabinet program.
  • Self starter with ability to self-direct, work independently within a team environment with endurance to work projects through to completion.
  • Polished appearance, articulate communication skills and an excellent ability to work with all types of people.

CAD Specialist

  • Do you enjoy the creative elements and synergy of a collaborative Design+Build remodeling team?
  • Are you proficient in Chief Architect and do you work independently?
  • Have you guided projects from initial as-built measures through permit and construction drawing sets?
As a member of our CAD / Design team you will:
Work with our design team on residential Design+Build projects through the following tasks: compile site survey information to verify code and set-back requirements; measure existing project and take photos; create base set of “as-built” drawings; create floor plans (electrical, structural, roof, etc.) and elevations for permit set; work with engineer to incorporate structural information; submit for planning/permit; integrate notes and revisions as required by the City; create window, door and finish schedules; coordinate with the Estimating Department and Designer to ensure consistency between drawings and written specifications; incorporate Designer’s red-lines. Projects vary from bathrooms and kitchens (and other interior spaces) to whole house remodels with additions. This is a full-time position.
Your success factors:
  • Minimum of two years working in residential Design+Build remodeling on a variety of project sizes.
  • AS Degree or equivalent in Architectural Drafting.
  • Proficiency in Chief Architect software with the ability to utilize constructs, views and sheets throughout a full plan set.
  • Experience with residential drawing standards including an eye for proper line weights and good graphic standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Understanding of 20/20 or equivalent cabinet program preferred.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and self-direct, yet multi-task numerous projects, work under pressure, produce deliverables and have endurance to meet deadlines and shepherd projects through to completion.
  • Knowledge of Green Building and Universal Design a plus.
  • Interest in, or ability to compile “site analysis” regarding lot size, lot coverage, set backs, second story setbacks, etc. would be a plus.

Project Manager

A Project Manager must possess the technical construction knowledge necessary to manager and administrate a project through all phases from design through to build. A Project Manager must be able to manage, at one time, multiple projects totaling $3 million per year within schedule and budget.

Your success factors: A Journeyman Carpenter who has +20 years experience in construction and is highly skilled in all aspects of remodeling, construction and administration of a project; or possess 10+ years technical experience in the construction industry with strong administration skills and possibly a degree in construction. Interprets blueprints for confirming material take-offs, and structural considerations (such as load bearing walls). Read, comprehend, and follow requirements of factory specifications of all materials used on the project. Must be computer literate and comfortable with construction based software and smart phone/tablet technology. Demonstrate the necessary characteristics to be the leader of the project (i.e. be on time, proactive, organized, professional, supportive, and composed). Must possess a California State Contractor’s License.
